What distinguishes SEI’s service offering?

SEI operates at the intersection of technology, operations, and asset management. For more than 55 years, including nearly 30 years in Europe, our clients and their investors have benefited from our tailored solutions. As asset managers face increasingly complex challenges, we not only address these with our robust operations and cutting-edge solutions, but we also provide outstanding client service through our world-class team. Working with more than 320 traditional asset managers, alternative managers, and sovereign wealth managers, and as the largest private credit fund administrator in the world by assets*, we prioritise delivering excellence in five key areas: transparent data management, fund operations, innovative technology, investment operations, and regulatory services. Our approach centres on colocating around the client, fostering personalised and successful strategic relationships. Rather than relying on a single technology solution, we adopt open architecture to integrate and manage top-tier systems and services from third-party partners into a unified, seamless processing platform.

"We co-locate around the client for successful strategic relationships."

How are your clients’ needs evolving?

Clients are seeking enhanced data transparency, particularly bespoke reporting for their end investors that provides greater insight and clarity into their investments, enabling more informed decision-making. There is also an increasing focus on achieving operational efficiency across a wide variety of complex fund structures. Many clients currently use multiple providers for different asset classes and jurisdictions, resulting in reporting inefficiencies and differences. They now prefer a unified service approach that can harmonize these complexities by automating processes, standardising data, and simplifying reporting. As fund managers' requirements become more sophisticated, many are outgrowing their existing technology and need administrators who can deliver tailored solutions to support their growth. As they expand into new jurisdictions, fund managers face heightened pressure to remain compliant, particularly when entering new regions where regulations are continuously evolving and becoming more stringent.

What key risks and opportunities do you identify?

Fund managers face the risk of missing investment opportunities due to inaccurate reporting, leading to errors in critical areas like NAV calculation that affect the pricing of investor transactions and ultimately their ability to make informed decisions. Partnering with an administrator equipped with advanced technology and operations, including capabilities for data aggregation, can help managers stay focused on raising capital and driving alpha. An error in meeting a regulatory requirement carries the risk of delays, which can lead to negative publicity that can affect investor confidence, damage the organisation's reputation, and create challenges in raising capital for future funds. Partnering with a globally scaled fund administrator offers an opportunity to mitigate these risks. With a "follow the sun" operational platform, managers can avoid delays to ensure timely responsiveness and access global experts with existing experience of legal and compliance regulations to, enhance their ability to navigate complex global markets.

*As of Jan. 31, 2024, Prequin named SEI as the largest by assets private credit fund administrator globally.
